Current Opening: Toddler Lead Teacher
Wunderville Early Learning & Care
Where joy lives, and every child is seen, heard, and loved.
About Wunderville
Wunderville is an early learning and care destination dedicated to giving every child the gift of a wonder-filled early experience. We believe the first five years shape a child’s entire foundation, and we are on a mission to make a lasting, positive mark on our community, maximizing each child’s potential and laying the groundwork for a bright, productive future.
We are growing our team and looking for warm, lively, creative, and reflective educators. If you aren’t just looking for another job, but want a place to give purposefully to a field you are passionate about, Wunderville is where you belong.
About the Role
We are seeking a Toddler Lead Teacher to join our vibrant early childhood community.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we view toddlers as capable, curious, and expressive individuals who learn about the world with their whole bodies and all their senses. In this role, you will facilitate discovery through warm relationships, rich sensory exploration, physical investigation, and gentle routines that grow naturally from the children's emerging interests.
If you love watching toddlers wonder, test boundaries, make discoveries, and take their first big steps toward independence, and want to work alongside a team that deeply values those precious moments, we would love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
As a Toddler Lead Teacher, you will:
Guide Sensory & Emergent Learning: Carefully observe toddlers in motion to design and facilitate hands-on, sensory-rich experiences rooted in their natural curiosity and everyday discoveries.
Encourage Multi-Faceted Expression: Provide daily opportunities for toddlers to express themselves through open-ended art, music, movement, language, construction, nature, and sensory play.
Cultivate the Environment as the "Third Teacher": Thoughtfully prepare an intentional, accessible classroom space with rich materials that invite safe physical exploration, independence, and choice.
Build Relationships & Social-Emotional Support: Create a safe, nurturing, and predictable environment where every toddler and their family feels secure, valued, and loved. Stay watchful and attentive to toddler peer interactions, gently scaffolding in real time to model empathy, help express big feelings, and guide healthy early socialization.
Support Toddler Transitions & Routines: Turn everyday caregiving moments, meals, rest, diapering/toilet learning, and transitions, into meaningful, respectful learning and bonding opportunities.
Document & Make Learning Visible: Capture toddlers’ rapid growth and developmental milestones through observations, photos, and stories, sharing their thinking and discoveries with families.
Partner with Families: Maintain open, warm, and consistent daily communication with families to build strong home-school trust during these vital early years.
Collaborate & Reflect: Work closely with co-teachers and leadership through ongoing dialogue, shared planning, and reflection to maintain a joyful professional culture and deepen Reggio Emilia–inspired practice for toddlers.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an educator who brings warmth, deep patience, and purpose to working with toddlers. You will be a great fit for Wunderville if you are:
Passionate & Purpose-Driven: Deeply committed to early childhood education, enthusiastic about the unique joy and energy of toddlerhood, and eager to make a lasting, positive mark on our community.
Pedagogically Aligned: Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, or excited to learn, and comfortable trusting emergent curriculum and sensory exploration over rigid schedules or static themes.
Curious & Observant: Fascinated by toddler development, skilled at reading non-verbal cues and emerging language, and energized by open-ended materials, messy play, and physical movement.
Warm, Creative & Attentive: Patient, calm, and highly attentive to classroom dynamics, with a gentle ability to model social skills, de-escalate big toddler emotions, and nurture a safe, loving culture.
Collaborative & Reflective: A strong communicator who values partnership with colleagues and families, welcomes open dialogue and feedback, and is committed to continuous professional growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field preferred.
Experience: Prior experience working with toddlers or infants in a licensed center setting required; lead teaching experience in an early childhood setting is strongly preferred.
Developmental Understanding: Knowledge of toddler physical, emotional, and language development, along with a strong interest in Reggio Emilia–inspired practice or emergent curriculum.
Compliance & Safety: Must meet all applicable state licensing standards, pass required background checks, and fulfill state health and safety requirements.
Why Join Our Community?
This is more than a classroom teaching position, it is an opportunity to belong to a community that genuinely respects children as deep thinkers and recognizes our staff as the lifeblood of our vision.
At Wunderville, you will find:
A Culture of Joy & Purpose: A warm, intentional school environment where curiosity is at the heart of every day and every team member plays a meaningful role in shaping our community’s future.
Supportive & Collaborative Leadership: A leadership team and peer group that actively values your creative ideas, respects your professional voice, and fosters open reflection.
Professional Inspiration & Growth: Ample space to develop emergent projects alongside children, document their thinking, and continually deepen your practice alongside passionate colleagues.
